Urban SDK Partners With Canton

The City of Canton, Ohio, is the latest municipality to adopt Urban SDK’s traffic management platform to address public speeding complaints, improve traffic safety, and optimize traffic calming measures.

With 440 centerline miles of roadway and a population of 70,000, Canton faces challenges in managing traffic volumes and responding to public concerns about speeding in its neighborhoods.

The city currently operates with  four counters to monitor speeding, making effective data collection and analysis a priority.

By leveraging Urban SDK’s traffic management platform, Canton will be able to better handle complaints, manage traffic speed data, and identify areas in need of traffic calming measures such as speed tables, radar feedback signs, and school zone flashers.

The platform’s traffic insights will allow the city’s personnel to target enforcement efforts and address community concerns more efficiently.

Urban SDK’s platform is a cutting-edge solution that provides municipalities with a wide range of tools to manage traffic safety. It offers robust traffic speed data and volume monitoring, enabling cities like Canton to make data-driven decisions about where to allocate resources for traffic enforcement and where to implement calming measures to protect public safety.

“Canton’s approach to traffic management shows a deep commitment to public safety, and by utilizing Urban SDK, they’re taking that to the next level," said Urban SDK's Ross Loehr. "The ability to collect and analyze accurate roadway data will give the city actionable insights, allowing them to address issues before they escalate."

Canton’s adoption of Urban SDK joins that of Cleveland Heights, another Ohio city working with the platform to address similar concerns. The city can now dramatically increase its data collection capabilities and streamline its approach to traffic safety. The new traffic data will provide clear insights into speeding patterns and inform the city on where and how to install traffic calming measures.

Urban SDK’s traffic management platform will also support Canton’s use of radar feedback signs, school zone flashers, and the implementation of speed tables. By collecting detailed speed data and comparing it with public complaints, Canton will be able to better prioritize areas in need of intervention and proactively address speeding concerns before they result in accidents or other safety issues.

Located in northeastern Ohio, Canton is a city known for its historical significance and as the home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The city faces challenges typical of growing urban areas, including managing traffic volumes and ensuring the safety of its residents on roadways. By implementing advanced traffic management solutions, Canton continues to prioritize safety and efficiency.

"We're thrilled to partner with Canton in their mission to make the city's roads safer,” added Loehr.
