The Village of Oak Park, Illinois has partnered with Urban SDK to monitor speeds on all its local roadways.
Situated due west of downtown Chicago, off the CTA’s Green Line, Oak Park is a bedroom community for commuters into the city, as well as an outpost for daytrippers eager to see the birthplace of Ernest Hemingway and roughly two-dozen homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. As such, there’s a vibrant flow of traffic to and from the Village.
According to Oak Park officials, the Village has also constructed numerous multi-family housing units in recent years. As urban environments continue to evolve, the importance of leveraging technology to create safer and more efficient transportation systems becomes paramount.
The collaboration between Urban SDK and the Village of Oak Park underscores a commitment to utilizing innovative solutions for the benefit of the community.
“We are thrilled to work alongside the Oak Park team,” said Urban SDK’s Ross Loehr. “Aside from being an absolutely beautiful Village, it has a lot of interesting use cases due to the change of commuting patterns in the past three-plus years.”
Oak Park is the second Chicagoland municipality working with Urban SDK, joining the Village of Skokie on the metro-area’s northside.
